Weight Trackers Quit Smoking

Kick the habit, quit smoking and get back on track with Weight Trackers™ step-by-step plan.

To start the process; you will wean yourself from smoking in monthly intervals. For the first month if you are smoking three packs a day now, reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke to two and a half packs a day. The next month reduce your usage to two packs a day. In month three reduce your usage to one and a half packs a day. In month four reduce your usage to one pack a day. In month five reduce your usage to a half pack a day. As this is a weaning process, as you reduce your usage you must spread the length between smoking a cigarette to create a slow withdrawal. Maintain smoking half pack for the next month and reduce your usage until you are smoke free by the seventh month. This process will change your life forever.

About 30 percent of all deaths from heart disease in the United States are directly related to cigarette smoking. Smoking, including secondhand smoke, greatly increases your risk of heart disease. Quitting now can have long term benefits on your health. Did you know that one year after quitting, the risk of coronary heart disease is cut in half? And after 5 to 15 smoke free years, the risk of stroke is similar to that of a person who never smoked. A smoke free lifestyle is fundamental to healthy living.

According to Regina Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A., and Surgeon General “Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for you and your family. No matter how long you have smoked, there are major and immediate benefits to quitting now. Within minutes of quitting your heart rate drops and within a day the carbon monoxide in your blood drops to normal. Within 2 weeks to three months, your risk for a heart attack decreases. The benefits only get better the longer you remain tobacco free."

According to research, each cigarette contains more than 2,000 chemicals of which at least 50 are known cancer causing carcinogens. Smoking causes cell damage, which can lead to serious illness such as cancer and heart disease. It also drains the body of many essential vitamins and minerals, affecting your ability to absorb these vital nutrients. The only way to avoid this damage is not to smoke.

You need high octane fuel for your action packed day. Get going with our all day energy plan from sun up to sun down. Paying attention to what you eat and how you live will help reverse that rundown feeling. Fluctuating blood sugar, typically caused by caffeine and sugar, zaps energy. For a better, more long lasting boost, eat a snack of protein and complex carbohydrates, such as almond butter on whole grain crackers, says registered dietitian Bonnie Taub-Dix.

We all know that secret stash of chocolate or third cup of coffee won’t do our bodies any good, yet when fatigue sets in, who doesn’t reach mindlessly for a quick pick me up? There is a biological reason for your lack of willpower; your body is declaring its need for energy fast!

Great all day energy boosters start with breakfast. Eat, or risk going into energy debt later in the day. “A balanced breakfast raises blood sugar, which perks you up and it also stokes your metabolism; your body’s chemical on switch, which helps you burn calories throughout the morning, “says Molly Kimball, R.D., sports dietitian at Ochsner Elmwood Fitness Center in New Orleans. To stay energized throughout the day, indulge in a low fat yogurt, or chow down on an ounce of nuts, or nibble away on a small banana. These healthy munchies will keep you going all day.

Emotional Eating

When emotional eating is serious plenty of us turn to a chocolate bar or a bowl of ice cream to feel better at least some of the time. But others take it a step further, soothing their emotions in an entire chocolate cake or jumbo bag of chips or both.

If you feel a compulsive need to eat alone to avoid embarrassment, or you are overwhelmed with feelings of worthlessness and guilt because of your eating habits, you may have a disorder that requires professional help.

Whatever emotions drive you to overeat, the end result is often the same. You can take the necessary steps to regain control of your eating habits and get back on track with your weight loss goals.
